RIAUMAG.COM JAKARTA, 28 March 2023—— – PT ICI Paints Indonesia (AkzoNobel Decorative Paints Indonesia), the manufacturer of Dulux Professional paint, continues to support the implementation of sustainable design in the construction or renovation of residential, and commercial property and public facilities in Indonesia through Dulux Professional talk show. The talk show aims to bring awareness and educate professionals, such as architects and interior designers, about the importance of sustainable designs and creating buildings that have little impact on the environment.
Experts also say that properties that implemented sustainable design can conserve 40% more energy2 compared with traditional ones, increasing energy efficiency and decreasing CO2 emissions. Additionally, the low-carbon materials in these environmentally friendly buildings have been demonstrated to reduce the life-cycle emissions of buildings by up to 30%3.
A notable form of AkzoNobel’s support is the provision of Dulux Professional, which is a variety of paint and coating solutions with technologies that can help save energy consumption and provide resource efficiency for the needs of residential and commercial projects, e.g. Dulux Professional Weathershield Express, which can boost productivity by up to 30%, with one less coat faster completion time. AkzoNobel is the pioneer in Indonesia that implements this concept for exterior paint which aims to reduce the usage of raw materials to support sustainability. ICE BSD and Ciputra World are among the examples of environmentally friendly buildings that have used the Dulux Professional range of products.
Yudhy Aryanto, Country Commercial Head of PT ICI Paints Indonesia (AkzoNobel Decorative Paints Indonesia), said, “In the property sector, sustainable design is increasingly becoming important. We need to look into ways to extend product lifespans and minimize the depletion of natural resources. This will help reduce negative impacts on the environment and whilst improving the health and comfort of building occupants, thereby improving building performance. At AkzoNobel, we are committed to playing our part in the sustainable development of the paints and coating industry with People.Planet.Paint. approach to sustainable business. Through this approach, we ensure a safe and diverse work environment for developing our talented workforce, reducing our impact on the environment and delivering more sustainable and healthy products. We will also continue collaborate with our partners and stakeholders in supporting sustainable development for better future”
Sustainability aspect has also received serious attention from relevant stakeholders, such as the Indonesian Architect Association and the Indonesian Interior Designer Association. They constantly voice the importance of sustainability in design. Education on using sustainable material to fellow architects, interior designers as well as industrial and business customers is also regularly conducted.
Ar. Doti Windajani, IAI, AA, Principal of Quadratura Indonesia/ Chairwoman of Indonesian Architect Association Jakarta, said, “Currently global warming is getting serious and this is affecting the temperature in cities, including Jakarta. This is known as the urban heat island which is a phenomenon of increased temperature in urban areas. To overcome this increase in temperature, the participation and cooperation of all stakeholders is required. We as architects need to constantly innovate in designing sustainable buildings to create livable cities.”
Ranu Scarvia, S.Sn, M.Sn, Principal of GMDI/ Chairwoman of Indonesian Interior Designer Association Jakarta, said, “Designing interior of buildings must be done with care. This includes understanding the type of materials to be used, the behavior of the people in the building and fulfilling the comfort needs of the occupants. Paying attention to the temperature in the room, the right level of brightness from lights and sunlight and the noise level in the room will affect the quality of life and performance of the occupants. A building’s interior must also pay attention to sustainability aspects, such as choosing materials or paint for the interior that are both sustainable and engance comfort.”
Sustainable design aims to reduce negative impacts on the environment, and this is supported by paint manufacturers. Paint industry technology keeps evolving to develop sustainable products that are more efficient and safer, both for the environment and the people. AkzoNobel’s sustainable solutions such as its KeepCool technology in Dulux Weathershield exterior paint which helps to alleviate the problem of energy consumption. The paint reflects the sun’s energy, reducing the energy needed to cool buildings in the summer. The technology can reduce wall temperature by up to 5 degrees Celsius, leading to a potential 10-15 per cent in energy savings for the building.
With durable and sustainable Dulux paints that protect surfaces for longer, AkzoNobel helps commercial customers reduce costs, prolong maintenance cycles and keep things more colorful.
