RIAUMAG.COM , JAKARTA——– dr. Ma’al Abror, MKM, the newly appointed Chairperson of PMI Riau for the 2024-2029 term, has expressed deep concern over the status of the former Chairperson, SAB, who is under investigation as a suspect in a corruption case involving the 2019-2022 PMI Riau grant funds.
Since the provincial congress on November 14, 2024, and the subsequent swearing-in on December 1, 2024, the outgoing SAB administration has yet to complete the handover of leadership and inventory. Dr. Abror mentioned that despite efforts to communicate and formally request the transfer of responsibilities, including the handover of the BRK and BRI PMI Riau bank accounts, SAB has not complied. This has raised suspicions of administrative mismanagement by the previous leadership. “The lack of cooperation and orderly transfer of duties has caused doubts about potential mismanagement,” he said, during the PMI National Congress at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta.
In response to these issues, the new PMI Riau administration plans to coordinate with the provincial inspectorate upon their return from the National Congress. They had previously met with the Riau Provincial Health Office, the agency overseeing the PMI grant, to address the situation. Among the unresolved issues is the withholding of checks, which contain staff salaries and operational funds for PMI Riau, yet to be disbursed by SAB.
“We, the new leadership, still have not been granted access to the PMI Riau grant budget or any of the inventory items,” said Dr. Abror, emphasizing the urgent need for transparency and resolution to ensure the smooth functioning of PMI Riau moving forward.
